MARDAN/PESHAWAR: With the rain lashing different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, two children were killed and three people, including a woman, were injured in Mardan district in separate incidents on Wednesday.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued a warning of flooding in Budhni nullah of Peshawar and Kalpani nullah of Mardan and glacial lake outburst floods in Chitral region during the current monsoon spell.
The Rescue 1122 officials in Mardan said four-year-old Adnan and four-month-old Nosheen died and another child suffered injured after the roof of their house collapsed in Bijligar locality of Katlang tehsil.

Expressing concern over an increase in roof-collapse and electrocution incidents in the last few weeks due to heavy rains, a meeting of the Cabinet Committee asked all departments concerned to finalise a strategy to deal with such emergencies.
The meeting, chaired by Provincial Minister Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti and Punjab Chief Secretary Jawad Rafique Malik, reviewed arrangements for dealing with possible floods and the situation caused by monsoon rains.
It was also decided in the meeting to ban bathing in all rivers and streams across the province. Addressing the meeting, Bhatti said with better planning, natural calamities such as floods could be dealt with effectively. The departments should pay special attention to enhance their capacity to deal with natural disasters, he remarked.
Woman, son die as heavy rain batters capital

ISLAMABAD: A woman and her 8-year-old son were killed in the federal capital on Wednesday as 334mm heavy rainfall battered E-11 and D-12 and many areas of Rawalpindi on Wednesday due to a cloudburst.
Several areas of Islamabad experienced flooding which multiplied miseries for the residents of the area. A woman and her son drowned when rainwater entered the basement of their house in E-11.
Their bodies were later shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). The incident happened at about 6am while rescue teams reached the site at about 11am. While, her two children – a daughter, 13 and 5-year-old son were rescued by the youngsters of the area.

The Sindh government has decided to establish a 100-bed isolation facility in District Malir to properly isolate those air passengers coming to the Karachi airport from abroad who are diagnosed with coronavirus infection.
The decision to this effect was reached on Wednesday at a top-level meeting held at the Sindh Secretariat with Sindh Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah in chair.
The chief secretary asked the Karachi commissioner and Malir deputy commissioner to establish a 100-bed isolation facility for the coronavirus patients among the air travellers coming to Karachi from abroad. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority in Sindh would provide all the necessary facilities for the purpose.
