Now, town officials would like to use some of the cash borrowed to build the school to undertake repairs to the roof of Town Hall.

Framingham elementary schools roof projects state funding

FRAMINGHAM Two city elementary schools could soon get new roofs. City councilors and School Committee members this week agreed to submit a statement of interest for the Massachusetts School Building Authority’s accelerated repair program to replace roofs at the McCarthy and Dunning elementary schools. The deadline for school districts to submit a statement of interest for the program is June 1. “It is the first step in getting an MSBA-funded project forward,” said Superintendent of Schools Robert Tremblay. The roof on one wing of McCarthy Elementary School was last replaced in 1999, while the roof on the other wing was replaced in 2007 and has a 20-year life expectancy. The warranty on the section repaired in 1999 has expired and is showing signs of wear. Leaks could lead to mold issues in the school, according to school officials.

School Committee Votes Unanimously for a New High School – Everett Independent

Supt. Priya Tahiliani and the School Committee agreed on Monday night to start the long process of trying to build a new high school in the Rivergreen area, hoping to potentially transform Everett High into a middle school and relieve the overcrowding that exists now at every school building in the district. Tahiliani requested and received permission to file a Statement of Interest with the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) to pursue review and financing for a new high school building – tentatively planned for the area in and around RiverGreen Park. Tahiliani said they would pursue a high school as they can only focus on one school at a time, and the high school is already overcrowded. She said it was built for 1,800 students and is now at 2,057 students – more than 250 over the built capacity.
