CANTON â SUNY Canton held a socially distant 113th Commencement Ceremony for the Class of 2021 on Saturday.
Only graduates and college representatives were present at the event, which followed New York state guidelines on capacity, mask-wearing and COVID-19 testing. The ceremony was livestreamed on the SUNY Canton website.
College Council Chairman Ronald M. OâNeil addressed the Class of 2021 by video message. He encouraged them to stay connected with one another and to the college.
âAs alumni, you will create new memories at reunions and homecomings,â Mr. OâNeill said. âThere is another chapter in your SUNY Canton story, and I hope to see you back on campus.â

Cam Ward, a 1993 graduate of Troy University, has been appointed to the University’s Board of Trustees by Gov. Kay Ivey.
Ward’s appointment was approved by the Alabama Senate on Thursday. He will succeed the Honorable Lamar P. Higgins, who passed away in April after an extended illness.
Since December, Ward has served as Director of the Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles. Prior to the Bureau, Ward was elected to the Alabama House of Representatives in 2002 where he served for two terms. In 2010, he was elected to the Alabama Senate representing parts of Shelby, Bibb and Chilton County. He was re-elected in 2012 and served as Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, a role he held for the last nine years. Additionally, Ward served as President of the Alabama Law Institute.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. Students at the University of Tennessee Knoxville may not need to pay more tuition next year after the Campus Advisory Board voted Friday to recommend a 0% tuition increase to the Board of Trustees.
Undergraduate students can expect to pay $13,264 for in-state tuition, and $31,684 for out-of-state tuition, according to university officials.
The recommendation was part of a $1.32 billion budget proposal, which will go before the Board of Trustees in June. It also includes $18 million more in state appropriations compared to last year, as well as funding for increases in employee salaries.

Tymoshio Robinson, president of the Student Government Association, proposed an amendment to the constitution’s election laws.
The SGA senate approved Bill 112, the purpose of which is to change SGA’s executive board candidacy requirements and election laws.
Robinson’s amendment added an additional part to section 2.5 of the constitution, creating section 2.6.
Section 2.6 states “In the event that a candidate for Student Government Association President and/or Vice President is required to complete an academic internship and/or education department field placement or student teaching requirement, he/she shall not be allowed to serve in these positions during the same academic year of the aforementioned requirement.”
