SGA president plans for mental health, diversity initiatives Posted By: News Editor April 7, 2021 Ben Overby boverby2@murraystate.edu Junior Ian Puckett sat down with the Murray State News to discuss his ambitions as Student Government Association President. Puckett said he got involved in SGA somewhat late in his college career. His path to joining SGA included joining the summer orientation team as a freshman, and becoming a lead counselor as a sophomore, becoming interfraternity council president, and eventually becoming government relations chair in SGA. Puckett later became chief of staff and the idea of running for president entered his mind.

Irving Pressley McPhail, President Of Saint Augustine s University, Spread Love As A Leader

For WUNC Irving Pressley McPhail was on the quaint Raleigh campus of Saint Augustine’s University for only a few months as president before he succumbed to COVID-19. The historically Black university celebrated its leader as if he had been there decades. There was a special open-air service for him on the front lawn of the school, where a gospel choir sang the words, “My hallelujah belongs to you, you deserve it!” Saint Augustine’s was where the 71-year-old McPhail was expected to wrap up a stellar career in higher education. He was the founding chancellor of the Community College of Baltimore County and had served as president of two other schools.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) The controversial selection of Darrell Allison has spilled over into the student body at Fayetteville State University. On Friday afternoon, more than a dozen students gathered on campus for a march and speech about the selection process and other matters they would like to see addressed by the N.C. Board of Governors and FSU Board of Trustees. Sydney Harris, the Student Government Association President, helped organize the event, calling for more transparency and collaboration within future chancellor selections. The policy. it allows too much input from the Board of Trustees and the Board of Governors and not enough input from the chancellor of search committee itself, Harris said.

Stimulus Relief Funds

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 19, 2021)  University of Kentucky President Eli Capilouto sent an email to the campus community yesterday with an update on the latest round of federal funds to assist eligible students during the pandemic.  Please see the message below. Dear Campus Community,  As we did in the spring under the provisions of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), we are working in earnest to ensure we can provide critical relief to our students who need it most.   UK is eligible for approximately $8.9 million for students under the CRRSAA guidelines. Within the last few days, we received access to those funds.
