With COVID still around vaccination efforts continue in Grand Forks County with over 15% of the population receiving a first dose shot. The eventual goal is 60% vaccination to achieve so-called “herd immunity” from the virus.
Public Health Director Debbie Swanson told county commissioners on Tuesday that local coronavirus numbers have ticked up a bit recently. Swanson says the county is also inching closer to the next eligible tier of vaccination which will include the Grand Forks County Correctional Center and congregate care during the week of February 22nd.
Grand Forks County has a two-dose coverage average of 8.5% compared to the state average of 6.6%.
