A Tennessee man was arrested after police say he assaulted his girlfriend in Hopkinsville Thursday night.
Hopkinsville Police say 28-year-old Maurice Denton of Memphis got into a fight with his girlfriend on West 2nd Street.
During the fight, they reportedly both pushed each other before Denton used his arms to strangle her. He was arrested and charged with first-degree strangulation and fourth-degree assault.

A Tennessee man was arrested for assault and strangulation late Thursday night following an investigation on West Second Street.
The 26-year old female victim told Hopkinsville police that her boyfriend, 28-year old Maurice Denton of Memphis, pinned her down on the bed and placed his arms around her neck during an argument at a home on West Second.
He also allegedly shoved her on her face, causing a previous injury to reopen.
