Sunday Funday: Going Full Dictator Edition

While it came as yet another shocking revelation that the previous administration was using their Justice Department to spy on American citizens they considered to be enemies to the President, I doubt few were really surprised. Michael Franti on the Importance of Gun Awareness

Michael Franti reflects on why the battle against gun violence must continue and not be overlooked Michael Franti | June 4, 2021 - 11:00 am Share this article: CREDIT: Arley Mardo I started writing this op-ed at the end of March, just days after the Boulder, Colorado shooting took place at a supermarket killing 10 people. As I continued to formulate my thoughts in preparation for Gun Violence Awareness Day, today, June 4, when I knew this op-ed would publish with our friends at SPIN, there have been many more mass shootings, many of which never made the news. We Survived the Parkland Massacre. Gen Z, We Need Your Help. David Hogg, Sam Fuentes © Provided by The Daily Beast Taylor Jewell/AP We are of Gen Z. But no amendment no amendment to the Constitution is absolute. You can’t yell crowd you can’t tell [yell] “fire” in a crowded movie theater and call it freedom of speech. From the very beginning, you couldn’t own any weapon you wanted to own. From the very beginning that the Second Amendment existed, certain people weren’t allowed to have weapons. So the idea is just bizarre to suggest that some of the things we’re recommending are contrary to the Constitution.
