Broward County Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie, who led the district at the time of the mass shooting at the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, in 2018, was indicted for perjury and arrested on Wednesday.

Broward County Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie and General Counsel Barbara Myrick were arrested Wednesday as part of a statewide grand jury probe into the district.
Runcie was arrested on a charge of perjury in an official proceeding, a third-degree felony. Myrick was arrested on a charge of unlawful disclosure of statewide grand jury proceedings, also a third-degree felony.

Wayne LaPierre, the head of the National Rifle Association (NRA), revealed in a deposition released this week that he often sought refuge on a friendâs yacht following mass shooting events in the United States.
The deposition in which LaPierre discussed his escape from the fallout from those events is part of the bankruptcy hearings currently taking place involving the NRA. The use of the yacht could be considered a conflict of interest for the organization, and in direct violation of laws regarding nonprofits.
Under the Twitter handle @TheCaptainAidan, the freshman tweeted photos of classmates crouched under tables in a classroom. One student could be seen checking a mobile phone.
The tweet was captioned: My school is being shot up and I am locked inside. I’m ing scared right now.
Students also posted to Snapchat to share updates. In one snap, blood can be seen on the classroom floor.
Israel described the mass shooting at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland as catastrophic.
The shooting suspect, Nikolas Cruz, was taken into custody less than a mile from the scene. The 19-year-old former Douglas student was expelled for disciplinary reasons, according to Israel.
