MARTHA S VINEYARD, MA The coronavirus pandemic has dramatically changed how we celebrate special occasions on Martha s Vineyard. From birthdays to holidays, we ve all had to adapt to a new normal. As 2020 comes to close, ringing in the new year will be no different.
Unfortunately, as we get ready to celebrate 2021, the spread of the coronavirus is surging in the United States. As a National Public Radio database shows, thousands of new cases continue to be reported daily across America.
In Massachusetts, there have been 12,076 deaths and 352,558 infections associated with COVID-19 as of Dec. 30. In Dukes County, 470 people have been infected by the virus.

MARTHA S VINEYARD, MA The latest weekly COVID-19 report released Wednesday by the Martha s Vineyard Boards of Health revealed that the Island has now experienced over 500 cases since the start of the pandemic.
Five new cases were reported on Wednesday, according to information released by the Island boards of health. They were all asymptomatic.
Including Wednesday s case count, Martha s Vineyard has experienced 512 total cases and 481 confirmed positive cases. The majority of the cases have been individuals between the ages of 30 and 39.

As of Tuesday afternoon, there are 118 pending tests and one hospitalized COVID-19 patient at Martha s Vineyard Hospital.
