The Martha s Vineyard Times Martha’s Vineyard Bank hosts Community Appreciation Week Martha’s Vineyard Bank announces its Community Appreciation Week from Monday, Feb. 22, through Saturday, Feb. 27. To show appreciation for customers and the community, MVB will offer the chance to win some fun prizes, according to a press release from the bank. Beginning Feb. 22, people can stop by a branch and pick up a scratch card, or enter online for the chance to win. No purchase is necessary to enter or win. Prices include an iPad with case, L.L. Bean Stowaway Backpack, L.L. Bean Sherpa Blanket, and $25 Lift Gift.

Harbor Homes takes lead in addressing homelessness - The Martha s Vineyard Times

The Martha s Vineyard Times Harbor Homes takes lead in addressing homelessness County contracts with nonprofit to provide shelter and other support services. The Old Whaling Church in Edgartown is just one initiative being operated by Harbor Homes the Island’s central resource for homelessness prevention. Ralph Stewart Harbor Homes of Martha’s Vineyard is officially taking the helm for homelessness prevention and remediation on-Island after becoming the umbrella organization for such services during the COVID-19 pandemic. The mission of Harbor Homes is to ensure that low-income residents have access to safe, sanitary, and secure housing so they can function as healthy and productive citizens. In addition to housing, the organization offers life skills education and support services that help residents move toward greater self-sufficiency. 

MV Bank Charitable Foundation awards grants - The Martha s Vineyard Times

The Martha s Vineyard Times M.V. Bank Charitable Foundation awards grants The Martha’s Vineyard Bank’s Charitable Foundation gave $30,450 through grants and donations to local nonprofits in the final quarter of the 2020 fiscal year. The foundation’s grants committee meets quarterly, and is dedicated to bettering the community through organizations in the areas of education, economic development, health and human services, culture, art, and historic heritage, and community services.  The 11 organizations that were allocated funding this quarter are Cape Cod Marathon 2021, Falmouth Community Television, Museums on the Green, Falmouth Academy’s Science & Engineering Fair, M.V. Figure Skating Club Sponsorship, Massachusetts Military Support Foundation, ACE MV Adult & Continuing Education, Belonging to Each Other, Falmouth VIPs, the Oak Bluffs School PTO’s Project Gratitude, and YMCA of Cape Cod.
