With the Delta variant of the COVID-19 virus hitting hard in low-vaccinated communities in Missouri, Fitzgibbon Hospital and affiliated clinics are working to remove barriers for people to receive their vaccine through upcoming walk-in clinics. According to a press release, appointments and pre-registration are not required, and persons age 12 and older seeking the vaccine are encouraged to walk-in during the specified times. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. · Fitzgibbon Family Health, from 9 a.m. until noon and 1-4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21. · Fitzgibbon Hospital Atrium, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, July 23. · Marshall Family Practice, from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m. on Thursday, July 29.

Friday, July 16, 2021 MARSHALL With the Delta variant of the COVID-19 virus hitting hard in low-vaccinated communities in Missouri, Fitzgibbon Hospital and affiliated clinics are working to remove barriers for people to receive their vaccine through upcoming walk-in clinics. Appointments and pre-registration will not be required, and those seeking the vaccine are encouraged to simply walk in during the specified times. Health experts in affect communities report that the Delta variant of COVID is causing younger people to be sickened more quickly and with more severe symptoms than what was seen last year at what was considered the virus peak. Fitzgibbon Hospital encourages individuals to seek out vaccination before the virus gains a stronghold in their community. Anyone aged 12 and over can receive their COVID-19 vaccine. However, minors must be accompanied by their guardian.

RAPID COVID-19 TESTING NOW AVAILABLE AT FITZGIBBON-AFFILIATED CLINICS

Fitzgibbon Hospital has successfully deployed COVID-19 rapid antigen testing stations to Grand River Medical Clinic in Brunswick, Akeman-McBurney Medical Clinic in Slater, Fitzgibbon Family Health in Fayette and Marshall Family Practice in Marshall. Fitzgibbon officials say availability for this rapid test at each of these rural health clinics means residents can find out if they are positive or negative for the COVID-19 virus within hours rather than days. This new functionality means access to testing also is closer to their homes, which will mean less exposure to others in the event their test comes back as positive. As rapid testing is more often used in the community-based clinics, the numbers presented to the hospital for COVID-19 testing will be reduced.
