Maldives Thanks India As 1 Lakh Doses Of Covishield Reach Male, Says Most Generous Gift
As the consignment of Coronavirus vaccine reached Maldives, its President Ibrahim Solih thanked PM Modi and India, calling vaccines the most generous gift .
As India honours its commitment of helping the neighbouring friendly countries by supplying the much needed Coronavirus vaccine to cope up with the pandemic, the consignment of 1 lakh doses of Serum Institute - AstraZeneca developed Covishield reached Maldivian capital Male on Wednesday.
Expressing heartfelt gratitude on the supply of the vaccines, Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government and the people of India for the most generous gift .

Co-Cabinet Spokesperson Ramesh Pathirana stated that as a Government, Sri Lanka has not extended an official request to the Maldives Government to consider carrying out the final rites of the Muslim patients who succumbed to COVID-19.
Referring to the statement shared by the Maldives Foreign Minister on Twitter, Minister Ramesh Pathirana stated that, Minister Abdulla Shahid had responded to the messages that were circulating on social media.
Speaking further, Minister Pathirana stated that health authorities in Sri Lanka are repeatedly requested to consider the ongoing issue in a humanitarian point of view before presenting a solution in the next few days.
