CADILLAC â COVID-19 cases are down from this springâs surge but still well above the target of 5% positivity rates or less.
Munson Healthcare on Tuesday reported an 11.2% two-week rolling average within Munson communities. Hospitalizations are about half what they were at the spring peak but younger people, including pediatric patients, continue to be hospitalized for COVID-19.
Dr. Christine Nefcy, Munsonâs chief medical officer, continued to encourage vaccination and reminded people that vaccination can help prevent variants from developing and spreading.
Though the number of people vaccinated has reached the stateâs 55% benchmark and will lead to the re-opening of in-person work later this month, masking is still an important part of the public health equation because people can spread COVID-19 without developing symptoms; moreover, about 1 in 20 people may end up getting the virus even after theyâve been vaccinated; additionally, the posi
CADILLAC â Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced that 55% of eligible Michiganders have received COVID-19 vaccination.
That means the state has met the âVacc to normalâ benchmark to re-open in-person work across all industries.
The stateâs vaccine tracker dashboard doesnât show Michigan at the 55% threshold. Thatâs because the state is using CDC data for the âvacc to normalâ benchmarks that provide for the slow lifting of epidemic orders as more of the population is protected against COVID-19. The stateâs own vaccine dashboard uses data from the Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MICR); but MICRâs data is incomplete because some vaccine providers donât report to MICR, such as Veterans Affairs hospitals or out-of-state providers.
