States have also been urged to minimise wastage of vaccine doses, the health ministry said in a statement. All wastage more than the national average hereafter is to be adjusted from the subsequent allocations to that state or union territory.

May 15, 2021 As per the order, the Chairman DDMA has said that the step has been taken in wake of surge in number of positive cases in Srinagar district and as the major focus has presently shifted to COVID-19 mitigation and management. “However proper health care of patients suffering from terminal diseases is to be accorded priority as well”, he added. The DDMA Chairman’s order also added that a mechanism was needed to be put in place so that medical condition of such patients may not deteriorate further. The order also stated that the DDMA Srinagar has taken the initiative to ensure that Cancer patients who are on Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy, Renal failure patients who are on dialysis, Cancer patients dated for surgery, Children who have schedule for immunization, besides Patients who underwent Emergency Orthopedic surgery for follow up, need to be taken care of and to make sure that timely access to treatment for such patients is guaranteed.

Kameswara Prasad has said that another tranche of Covaxin is also expected to reach Anantapur soon, and this will be reserved for those needing the second dose. No one will be administered with the first dose of Covaxin as of now.

These vaccines have been inoculated to Health Care workers and Front Line workers from Police, Revenue, Municipality and PRIs. On the occasion, the DC stressed upon the concerned Medical officers for proper utilization of opportunities and resources to achieve cent percent target of the vaccination in the district to avoid spread of the pandemic. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, Nazir Ahmad Lone; Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Kauser Amin; District Immunization Officer and Block Medical officers attended the meeting.
