Kannur Collector issues order under Disaster Management Act
Kannur District Collector T.V. Subhash, who is also the chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, has directed that half of the beds in all the hospitals in the district be set aside for COVID-19 treatment to ensure specialist treatment for all in view of the increasing number of cases in the district.
The action was taken under Sections 24 and 65 of the Disaster Management Act. According to this, all government and private hospitals, including medical colleges in the district, co-operative and ESI hospitals should reserve 50 per cent of their beds for COVID patients. Admission to 25 per cent of the reserved half beds will be done through the DDMA. Category B and C patients with severe symptoms will be admitted.

The staff members of Sahid Nirma Mahto Medical College and Hospital and Central Hospital of BCCL including nurses, ward boys, doctors, sanitation workers and administrative members underwent a two-hour fire mock drill on Monday.
The fire mock drill has been launched at the instruction of Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner Uma Shankar Singh. It will be conducted in all 30 Covid treatment facilities of the district including nine government and 21 private hospitals.
The training was conducted under the guidance of district fire officer Surendra Yadav. He explained the process of alarm operation, stopping central AC, isolating power supplies and evacuation of patients from the hospital in case of a fire emergency.

However, with daily night curfew hours in Chandigarh starting from 6 pm to 5 am, the restrictions will effectively come into force from Friday evening.

COVID-19: Kerala likely to impose complete lockdown in districts with high positivity rate from May 4
Amid the rising COVID-19 cases in the state, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said a complete lockdown may be imposed in the districts with a high positivity rate from May 4. The surge in the COVID cases shows that the situation in the state is going worse. In this context, the interventions have been strengthened at all levels. Apart from the restrictions announced earlier, a full lockdown may have to be imposed in some districts where the Test Positivity Rate is exceeding 50 per cent. We will be going for more stringent restrictions from May 4,â Vijayan said while addressing media personnel on Friday.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Friday that the situation in the state was worsening and a full lockdown might be imposed in some districts.
“The numbers show that the situation in the state is going worse. The interventions have been strengthened at all levels. Apart from the restrictions announced earlier, a full lockdown may have to be imposed in some districts where the disease spread is high with Test Positivity Rate above 50,” said Pinarayi Vijayan.
