THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the district witnessing a major spread of Covid-19, district collector Navjot Khosa has said that restrictions will be tightened. Monitoring will be strengthened with the involvement of police and sectoral magistrates. The District Disaster Management Authority will convene a meeting every day to assess the day-to-day situation.
The collector said that people should leave their houses only for buying essential items. Children, the elderly and pregnant women should stay indoors. Police have also been directed to enforce night curfew in the district. People should not go out except for buying essential items between 9 pm and 5 am.
I weekly market should be closed by 6.00 PM.
2. Work Places (Government and Private)
1. Working from home and virtual working should be encouraged.
2. Except officers, only 50% of employees can work from the office. However, this will not be applicable for organizations rendering Essential/Emergency Services, Law Enforcement Services, and Election work.
3. Meetings in the official chambers to be discouraged.
4. Pregnant women employees and women with children of 5 years or below irrespective of their grade shall be allowed to work from home.
5. Social distancing at workplaces should be ensured through adequate gaps between shifts, staggering of lunch breaks of staff etc.
6. Provision for thermal scanning, hand wash, and sanitizer be made at all entry and exit points and common areas. In addition, sufficient quantities of handwash and sanitizer should be made available in the workplaces.

GUWAHATI: Considering the latest surge in active COVID-19 cases in some of the districts across Assam, the Education Department on late Saturday night issued a notification to close down the Lower Primary Schools (both Government and non-Government) up to Class V. It will be applicable also in the Pre-Primary Schools in those Districts where the Deputy Commissioner of the District, as Chairman of DDMA (District Disaster Management Authority) is satisfied that the number of active COVID cases has crossed the 100 mark and the same shall be reviewed by the District Administration from time to time. The decision will be taken by the DDMA headed by the Chairperson namely the Deputy Commissioner of the District under provision of Section 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34 of the Disaster Management Act-2005.

Ladakh recorded 60 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, taking the infection tally to 12,131, an official bulletin said. The COVID-related death toll in Ladakh stands at 133, while 10,351 people have recovered from the infection since the outbreak of the pandemic last year, it said.
