The company that bears former US president Donald Trump s name along with its chief financial officer were indicted by the Manhattan district attorney s office Thursday on charges of tax and benefits fraud.
The Trump Organization and Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg were charged with having plotted since 2005 to defraud tax authorities through the awarding of benefits to company executives off the books.

Weisselberg was charged with concealing US$1.76 million of income including rent for a Manhattan apartment, lease payments for two Mercedes Benz vehicles and tuition for family members, with Trump signing cheques for the tuition himself.
“It was orchestrated by the most senior executives who were financially benefitting themselves and the company, by getting secret pay raises at the expense of state and federal taxpayers,” prosecutor Carey Dunne said at the arraignment.

Weisselberg faces 15 charges, including grand larceny, conspiracy, and manipulating company documents, as part of a 15-year tax scheme to reward Weisselberg and other Trump Organization executives in an off the books way, according to prosecutors. The business was charged with ten counts.

The Trump Organization and its Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges related to fraud and tax crimes, which former President Donald Trump has said is part of a political “witch hunt.”
Weisselberg, who has worked for Trump since 1973, surrendered himself to the Manhattan district attorney’s office early Thursday morning after a grand jury in Manhattan filed the indictments against him Wednesday. The Trump Organization and Weisselberg, who was brought into the court room in handcuffs, are accused of perpetrating a 15-year tax scheme, committing 15 felonies in the process, including scheme to defraud, conspiracy, grand larceny and falsifying business records, according to CNN.

Donald Trump s namesake company and longtime financial chief pleaded not guilty on Thursday to criminal charges in a sweeping indictment from Manhattan s district attorney as he probes the former U.S. president and his business practices.
