As part of a plea agreement, David Rodriguez Hernandez, 44, pleaded to charges of conspiracy, robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and voluntary manslaughter and received a sentence of 24 years and eight months. Victor Hugo Sanchez, 37, was found shot to death in the parking lot of a Paso Robles apartment complex in February 2013.

Edgar Saul Rojas Morales –District Attorney Dan Dow announced Tuesday that a San Luis Obispo County Jury has convicted Edgar Saul Rojas Morales, 25, of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and other felonies related to the death of Maria Rosas Medina,82, of Santa Maria on Dec. 1, 2018. The jury was not able to reach a unanimous verdict on the most serious charge of murder. On the charge of murder, the jury’s decision was split 11-1 in favor of guilt. The jury convicted Mr. Morales of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury, and driving on a suspended license. In a separate hearing, Superior Court Judge Jesse Marino found true the allegations that Morales had suffered two prior convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol in 2014 and 2017, and a prior conviction for driving on a suspended license.

On Tuesday morning, District Attorney Dan Dow announced the conviction of Edgar Saul Rojas Morales, 25, of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated along with other felonies related to the death of Maria Rosas Medina, 82, from Santa Maria. The crash happened at 10:30 p.m. on December 1, 2018. Morales was drunk driving on Thompson Road in Nipomo when he drove into the other lane of traffic and hit a car driven by Marciela Medina Marquez, 59 and passenger Maria Rosas Medina.

However, the jury was unable to come to a unanimous conviction for the serious charge of murder after a two-month trial. The vote ultimately came to 11 to 1 in favor of guilt.

Update posted March 24, 2021: –District Attorney Dan Dow this week announced that 27-year-old Chelsea Annmarie Stiles has been sentenced to serve 15 years and eight months in state prison. In December 2020, a San Luis Obispo County jury convicted Stiles of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated; driving under the influence of a drug causing death; four counts of assault with a deadly weapon using an automobile; leaving the scene of a vehicle collision causing injury; child abuse; and misdemeanor possession of cocaine. The deadly crash sequence occurred at 6 p.m. on Dec. 1, 2019, on Highway 227 when Ms. Stiles, while under the influence of cocaine, intentionally rear-ended an automobile containing a family of four at 74 miles per hour, disabling the vehicle. About 19 seconds later, Stiles drove into the opposing lane of travel striking Tilton’s vehicle head-on at 68 miles per hour, killing him instantly.
