Our Pennsylvania legislature has not woken up, said Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner. (The Legislature) has not awakened; has not smelled the coffee. Philadelphia leaders say state lawmakers have been delaying or blocking gun legislation for too long. We don t even have common-sense gun laws, said Sen. Sharif Street (D-Philadelphia).

They are calling for legislative and executive action to stop gun violence in Pennsylvania. They are asking for bills that would require reporting of lost or stolen firearms, restriction of the sale of military-grade weapons to keep guns away from abusers and stalkers.

West Philly man charged with raping woman in Macy s bathroom

The victim was shopping with her husband Sunday when she entered a third floor bathroom around 11:30 a.m. Uqdah had been waiting inside the restroom for 20 minutes when she entered, police said. He allegedly jumped over her stall, dragged her into another stall and raped her.  Uqdah, who used kitchen skewers as a makeshift weapon, also stole between $60 and $80 from the woman, police said.  Uqdah allegedly fled on the Market-Frankford Line at SEPTA s 13th Street Station, located beneath the department. Surveillance cameras caught him exiting the El station at 52nd and Market streets and visiting a store at 52nd Street and Girard Avenue, about a mile from the El station. 

Police ask public for leads in Olney mass shooting

(Emma Lee/WHYY) Philadelphia law enforcement is asking the public to come forward with any information that could lead to the arrest of those who opened fire and injured eight people at Broad Street and Olney Avenue. The victims of the SEPTA Olney Transportation shooting, which took place shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday, are 17 to 70 years old. Of the eight, only one remains hospitalized, according to authorities. Police said it’s unclear if any of the victims were targeted specifically.
