Namibia ready for petroleum exports

Namibia ready for petroleum exports Posted by   THE first-ever delivery of 8 000 metric tonnes of fuel oil at the fuel jetty in Walvis Bay has taken Walvis Bay one step closer to becoming an express logistics hub that would serve the entire Southern African Development Community.   The delivery of the Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil to the storage facility of the National Petroleum Corporation (Namcor) saw the state-owned enterprise entering into trade with neighbouring countries that use heavier fuel to power electricity generating infrastructure. Fuel oil is also used by the maritime industry.   The Maersk Tampa, a tanker vessel chartered by international oil trading and bunkering firm Monjasa, arrived in the Walvis Bay harbour shortly before the weekend and completed the delivery of the fuel oil.

ZeroNorth and Monjasa partner to power Optimise with bunker market data | Hellenic Shipping News Worldwide

ZeroNorth and Monjasa partner to power Optimise with bunker market data Maritime technology company ZeroNorth and global oil and shipping group Monjasa have today announced a new data partnership that makes Monjasa’s bunker market information available in Optimise, ZeroNorth’s vessel optimisation platform. Optimise users will now be able to access data from Monjasa spanning bunker prices and availability of the most common fuel grades at key ports around the world. Monjasa’s data covers the current market price of the most commonly applied marine fuels, including Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO), Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil (VLSFO) and Marine Gas Oil (MGO), in a variety of grades. The partnership will also mean that Optimise will be able to access Monjasa’s view of fuel availability in a range of locations, from key bunkering hubs such as Singapore, Rotterdam, Houston and Fujairah, to smaller or more regional trading ports.

Blackened waters: Devastation by oil spill in Mauritius - Oceanographic

Words by Joseph Sullivan After refuelling in Singapore, the MV Wakashio set sail on a voyage that would be its last. Eleven days later, and less than a mile from the South-Eastern coast of Mauritius, the 300m Panamanian flagged bulk carrier ploughed into an ancient barrier reef system, estimated to be over 100,000 years old. The incident would prove to be catastrophic, with implications far beyond the shores of the tiny island nation. After entering dangerously shallow waters on July 25, 2020, disaster struck the Wakashio. Despite calm conditions and clear visibility, the vessel, operated by Japanese shipping giant Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) smashed into a section of the country’s Eastern Barrier Reef, amid a network of highly protected international nature reserves, home to some of the rarest species on Earth.
