Since the virus hit the state in March, a total of 291,891 cases and 6,605 coronavirus-related deaths have been reported. Gov. Tate Reeves announced during Tuesday s press conference that first responders and K-12 teachers and staff will be eligible to receive COVID-19 vaccinations starting Monday. According to a New York Times database on Wednesday, at least 2,315 new coronavirus deaths and 71,737 new cases were reported in the U.S. Tuesday. Over the past week, there has been an average of 68,029 cases per day, a decrease of 37% from the average two weeks earlier.
