C. Andrew Northrup, Michigan State University Extension, Statewide Government and Community Vitality, sustainable tourism educator
Andy holds a statewide appointment with Michigan State University Extension s Community, Food, and Environment Institute, which focuses on developing strong sustainable community blueprints that strengthen relationships and social capital, foster innovative economic growth, and leverage and sustain our natural resources.
Andy has been directly responsible for growing MSU Extension’s sustainable tourism programs since 2013. As a result, dozens of small-town communities have been successful at leveraging their assets to attract visitors and residents. Andy is also the vice-chair for the National Extension Tourism Design Team.
