ASSAULTS: Battle Creek police have reported the following cases:
• A boy, 9, told officers he was punched in the arm by another young boy and his $700 cell phone was taken in the 100 block of Post Avenue at 7:31 p.m. Friday.
• A warrant is being sought for a man, 31, after his roommate, a man, 39, said he was assaulted in the first block of North Mason Avenue at 9:20 p.m. Monday.
• A man, 24, was arrested after his girlfriend, 22, said she was assaulted when he hit her with a diaper bag in the 100 block of James Street at 10:06 p.m. Monday.
• A man, 28, was arrested when his friend s roommate, 33, said he was assaulted in the 1000 block of Capital Avenue Southwest at 10 p.m. Monday.
CAT CONVERTERS: Catalytic converters were stolen from several vehicles near Marshall on Friday. Michigan State Police at Marshall said the thefts were between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. from vehicles parked at the Michigan Department of Transportation carpool lot, also known as Park & Ride, at 15720 Michigan Ave. at the I-69 interchange. The catalytic converters are emission control devices that contain the valuable metals platinum, rhodium and palladium, which can be sold. Police across Michigan have reported increased thefts this year. Police say thieves can crawl under vehicles and remove the converters within a few minutes. The carpool lot near Marshall is one of 243 in Michigan. Anyone with information is asked to call the state police at 269-558-0500.

FLOWERFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A Monday night barn fire in St. Joseph County is being investigated by the Michigan State Police as it’s believed the fire was intentionally set.
It took place in the 11000 block of Mt. Zion Road which is northwest of Three Rivers.
State Police say there may have been suspicious people and vehicles in the area just prior to the fire starting.
The barn which was built in the 1800âs was almost a complete loss.
