LANSING, Mich. - Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced changes to protocols for state contract bids to implement the Michigan Jobs First Executive Directive 2019-15. These new protections will level the playing field for companies that play by the rules, allowing companies to compete fairly while protecting workers wages and health care. The new processes also account for the overall economic impact of a state contract on Michigan s economy.

Five people were charged in connection to an inmate s death at a Michigan jail, reports say.
Paul Bulthouse died after experiencing seizures at Muskegon County Jail in April 2019.
The four sheriff deputies and a registered nurse were charged with involuntary manslaughter, the attorney general said.

LANSING Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel today announced the findings of investigations conducted by her department into the in-custody deaths of Paul Bulthouse and Anthony Scott Hulon.
Paul Bulthouse, 39, died while being held at the Muskegon County Jail and Anthony Scott Hulon, 54, died at the Lansing Police Department Detention Center. In-custody deaths are those that occur while individuals are in the custody of law enforcement.
“The loss of human life is a tragedy,” said Nessel. “It is the responsibility of my office to determine whether that loss was the result of an unfortunate set of circumstances or because of a criminal act. While there is little the Department of Attorney General can do to provide comfort to the families of these two men, it is our duty and responsibility to
