3 hospitals join forces for POWER Initiative - Odessa American: Education

The POWER Initiative has announced its partnership with all three Midland/Odessa hospitals, beginning Jan. 1, 2021. Midland Memorial Hospital will join previous partners, Medical Center Hospital and Odessa Regional Medical Center, in the reading initiative partnership.
POWER is an overarching plan to try to âconnect all the touchpoint and through lines from birth to kindergarten or prek,â said Adrian Vega, executive director of the Education Partnership of the Permian Basin.
The POWER Initiative falls under the Education Partnership of the Permian Basin. Vega said it gives âstructure and focus to how weâre aligning all our resources. The whole goal is to improve kindergarten readiness. Weâre literally starting at birth.

MIDLAND, Texas Midland Memorial Hospital is expecting to get it s first doses of the Pfizer vaccine on December 17, just days after several Texas metroplexes received their first doses.
The hospital is expecting to receive 1,950 doses to accommodate all 1,900 of its employees.
Though with a few disqualifiers and the vaccine not being mandatory, there could end up being several hundred leftover doses.

MIDLAND, Texas Midland Memorial Hospital is expecting its shipment of the COVID-19 vaccine to arrive either December 16 or 17. Hospital workers are more than ready to get the vaccine.
