Balanced Cardinals pick up MIAC victory (3/3/2021)
Any more games like Saturday’s, and Saint Mary’s University women’s basketball coach David Foley may have a few more gray hairs on his head.
The Cardinals appeared to have Saturday’s Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) game at Hamline University wrapped up with a neat bow twice in the second half leading by as many as 12 in the third quarter and by nine with just over four minutes remaining in regulation.
Yet, it was a pair of free throws in the waning seconds by Ewelina Schlomann with SMU leading by just one that secured the Cardinals’ 72-69 victory over the Pipers at Hutton Arena.

The MIAC and the University of St. Thomas would like to recognize that the American experience has not been the same for everyone under the flag, it said. As we continue the fight for equality and justice for all, we now invite you to respectfully express yourself for the playing of our national anthem.
