It is something that is top of mind for Minnesotans right about now: is the Minnesota State Fair still happening?
The Minnesota State Fair is a huge event that happens at the end of every summer and sadly, because of COVID-19, was cancelled last year. The massive fair has only been cancelled a handful of times in history so it was a huge bummer.
The good news is that now there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel for the pandemic - and we know how to hold events that keep us all socially distant and safe. With these things in mind, the Minnesota State Fair says that as of now, all concerts are going on as planned.

Mick Sterling may be the most determined force on the Minnesota music scene during the pandemic.
For the second consecutive year, he is producing a series of outdoor drive-in concerts starring Minnesota musicians in a Burnsville parking lot, it was announced on Monday. And Relief Sessions 2021 is more ambitious, with themed weekends featuring three to five shows per day. More than 80 acts are booked.
The series is slated to run from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend, in other words May 28 to Sept. 6. All but one weekend will be staged at the Burnsville Ice Center parking lot; the other concerts will be held in Rosemount s Central Park.

The announcement that the fairgrounds would be a mass federal vaccination site was made by the White House task force, then Governor Tim Walz, along with FEMA confirmed that announcement. The vaccinations will begin on April 14th, which is next Wednesday.
Many people have said that they are hoping for the Johnson and Johnson vaccine because it is a one and done vaccination. The Pfizer and Moderna (only Pfizer at this site) are a 2 dose vaccine. Meaning you will need to make an appointment to come back within a few weeks to receive your second dose.

We weren t able to head to the Great Minnesota Get-Together in 2020, but thanks to a new attraction now open, you can get your State Fair fix at the Mall of America.
Out of all the many things that the pandemic canceled in 2020 and there was a lot the fact that the Minnesota State Fair wasn t able to be held (for the first time since 1946!) seemed to really sting.
It s called The Fair on 4 (because it s located on the mall s fourth floor, on the east end) and it features many of the same things we all love to do while at the Great Minnesota Get-Together. Serving deep-fried shenanigans on a stick. is how their website sums things up. Word of this new offering popped up last fall, and the food hall and entertainment venue officially opened back on March 12th.
