Wright, a 20-year-old Black man, was identified by his family as the person fatally shot by police in Brooklyn Center, a suburb of Minneapolis, on Sunday afternoon. In a news release, Brooklyn Center police chief Tim Gannon said officers shot the man after pulling his car over for a traffic violation, and learning that he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
