Polling is underway in Tamil Nadu with top leaders including AIADMK s O Panneerselvam, DMK chief M K Stalin and celebrities like Rajinikanth exercising their franchise early on Tuesday.

EVM, VVPATs found at TMC leader’s residence in Uluberia Uttar
An Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and four VVPATs were found at a Trinamool Congress leader s residence in Uluberia Uttar of Howrah district in West Bengal where polling is underway in the third phase, covering 31 seats. According to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers, the machine was found at TMC leader Gautam Ghosh s residence in Tulsiberia.Â
The saffron party workers created ruckus and protested against the TMC at a polling booth here. They also raised slogans against the ruling party and demanded action against Gautam.Â
Chiran Bera, BJP candidate from Uluberia Uttar, accused the TMC of electoral interference and demanded stern action those trying to disrupt the democratic exercise.Â

Voter turnout crossed 60 per cent in Tamil Nadu by evening as polling continued peacefully with key leaders, including AIADMK’s K Palaniswami, O Panneerselvam and DMK chief MK Stalin, exercising their franchise for the April 6 assembly polls on Tuesday.
Sporadic, poll related minor incidents were, however, reported from a couple of places though there were no major untoward incidents.
Till 5 pm, the polling was 63.60 per cent, Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo told reporters. Namakkal saw the highest of 70.79 per cent and Tirunelveli the lowest with 50.05 per cent.

Recollecting the instructions given by her mother the previous day, the 19-year-old K.S. Sneha carefully stepped into the polling station at Valluvalli Government Upper Primary School on Tuesday.
After taking a fleeting look at the arrangements at the polling station, she approached the polling officer inside the booth to cast her first vote.
“After pressing the button of the Electronic Voting Machine, I waited for a few seconds to hear the beep sound emanating it, as instructed by my mother yesterday, to complete the voting,” said Ms. Sneha, who was seen waiting outside the polling station with her mother.
