MIAMI, FL Chans the pig has been saved from the butcher block. This young pig, rescued from a Homestead slaughterhouse, was pardoned by Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava Monday outside Latin Café s Brickell location.
He ll live the rest of his days at Aguacate Sanctuary of Love, a vegan eatery, wellness center and animal sanctuary at 12100 SW 43rd Street in Miami. The sanctuary was founded by Daney Cabrera, a real estate agent who became a vegan and animal activist.

Miami Beach s curfew will be extended to 1 a.m. for Christmas and New Year s, the city announced Monday.
The curfew will not be in effect from 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 24 through 1 a.m. on Dec. 25 and from 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 31 through 1 a.m. on Jan. 1. Miami-Dade County s daily general curfew begins at midnight.

Last week, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava announced a holiday curfew extension for the county. She cited certain holiday traditions, such as midnight mass, as the reason for the curfew extension.
Gov. Ron DeSantis announces $20 million for Biscayne Bay protection

KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. – Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Monday that $20 million will be invested in protecting Biscayne Bay, with $10 million of that funding coming from the state and $10 million coming from Miami-Dade County.
DeSantis made the announcement during a news conference at Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, where he was joined by Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nuñez and Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Noah Valenstein.
The state’s portion of the funding comes as part of DeSantis’ planned $625 million to be spent on water resources projects.

Dr. Mary Jo Trepka is an infectious disease epidemiologist and professor and chair of the epidemiology department at the Robert Stempel College of Public Health & Social Work. She was recently invited to participate in advising Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava on issues related to COVID-19 as South Florida, like much of the country, continues to grapple with a surge in cases. Also serving from FIU are Drs. Aileen Marty and Yolangel Suarez Hernandez, both from the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, and Dr. Robert Sackstein, its dean.
Wynwood Walls reopens with ticketed entry and there will be a cost in 2021

MIAMI – Closed by the coronavirus pandemic since mid-March, the Wynwood Walls have finally reopened.
The Miami graffiti art destination resumed welcoming visitors Friday at 11 a.m., and you will now need to get a ticket for entry.
Tickets are free for the first month, courtesy of the Wynwood Business Improvement District. Starting Jan. 22, tickets will cost $10 for adults. Children 12 and under will still be admitted for free.
The timed tickets are in part a way to control the crowd size, and they can be booked before your visit at thewynwoodwalls.com.
