Long Island’s own placed 4th in the Best Small Airport category, which includes airports with fewer than 10 million passengers each year. “The Long Island community really came together to support us, and we are so grateful,” said MacArthur Airport Commissioner Shelley LaRose-Arken. “We were honored when an independent panel of travel experts nominated MacArthur Airport and 14 other airports as friendlier and easier to use. Today, we celebrate a win for Long Island and our loyal MacArthur Airport customers.”
Southwest Airlines adds South Carolina, Oregon and Washington getaways to its destination map
Dallas-based Southwest has added 17 new destinations since the pandemic began.

Southwest Airlines is adding three new destinations on the East Coast and the West Coast, making plans to fly to Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Eugene, Ore.; and Bellingham, Wash., later this year.
Dallas-based Southwest has now added 17 destinations since the pandemic began as it tries to divert from its former strategy of fewer destinations and value airports to capture new passengers to ease the financial pain of the pandemic.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) – A popular American airline known for their ‘Bags Fly Free’ policy has announced service to Myrtle Beach.
Southwest Airlines said Monday service to the Myrtle Beach International Airport will begin in the second quarter of 2021.
“We’re looking to start Myrtle Beach service in time for summer vacations and we expect our arrival to appeal to travelers who currently drive to this very popular coastal area in the Southeast. ‘Golf bags fly free’ should be very popular for Myrtle Beach service!” Southwest Airlines said in a press release.
Washington County announced the resumption of the seasonal flights in a news release Friday.
Flights to Myrtle Beach International Airport will begin on May 28 and run through Sept. 6. Flights to St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport will begin on June 3 and run through Aug. 15.
Allegiant offers flights from Hagerstown to Orlando (Fla.) Sanford International Airport year-round, and it will expand that schedule this year. The airline has added an Orlando flight on Wednesdays in addition to its normal Monday and Friday flights. The Wednesday flights will begin June 9 and run through Aug. 11.
Currently, all Allegiant flights from Hagerstown Regional Airport are operating as normal with COVID-19 health and safety protocols in place, according to the release.
