Date Time Roadmap for Irymple’s future open for final public comment Mildura Rural City Council has released its 15-year blueprint for the future of the thriving Irymple township. The Irymple Structure Plan and Urban Design Framework 2021-2036 (the plan) is now in its final stage of public consultation, revealing some of the key themes to come out of previous rounds of community consultation, as well as the proposed roadmap for Irymple’s future. The plan focuses on the area bounded by Sandilong and Morpung Avenues and Fourteenth and Sixteenth Streets. It aims to guide future changes to land use as well as addressing future community needs in terms of housing, social services and public spaces.

Date Time Sydney Dance Company bringing contemporary dance epic to MAC The full might of the Sydney Dance Company ensemble combined with the Australian String Quartet is set to make for one of this year’s most memorable performances at Mildura Arts Centre (MAC) when Impermanence is performed live on stage next month. Composed by Bryce Dessner, best known as founder of American rock band The National, and choreographed by Artistic Director Rafael Bonachela, Impermanence was initially inspired by the tragedy of the 2019 Australian bushfires and the Notre-Dame fire in Paris. Described as “an epic, driven performance that packs an emotional punch”, Impermanence will treat Sunraysia audiences to an amazing contemporary dance performance set to the musical score of a composer whose work has featured in the Oscar-nominated films The Revenant and The Two Popes.

Date Time Young people help VicHealth, councils plan healthy future VicHealth is partnering with 16 councils in an ambitious new project putting young Victorians in the driver’s seat to help create a healthier future. From Mildura to Melton, young people in the 16 ‘fast-track’ local government areas will have a seat at the decision-making table, as councils create connected and supportive communities through the design of their Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plans. This partnership comes as a VicHealth survey shows 4 in every 10 young Victorians aged 18 to 24 had difficulties staying connected to others in 2020 (up from 3 in 10 before coronavirus restrictions began). 4 in 10 were concerned about their job prospects and 2 in 10 said they did not trust their neighbours.
