5-Day-Old Baby s Bruises Caused By Father, Who Blamed Cat For Injuries

The police in Kentucky have charged the father of a newborn with criminal abuse after the 5-day-old baby was found with several bruises.
However, the accused blamed his pet cat of attacking the baby. According to the Gleaner, Seth Justice, 21, of Henderson was taken into custody on charges of first-degree criminal abuse victim under 12, a Class C felony. Detective John Nevels told local media Monday the investigation began a month ago when the baby s parents took her to the doctor.
Neighbors said the child’s mother was so distraught, WISN-TV reported.
“The heartbreak in her scream, that was scary in itself,” Santana Medina said. “For her to wake up today and know that she’s one child less is heartbreaking. I just pray that God covers them and keeps them because today isn’t going to be a good day for them.”
At least eight other children have been killed in Milwaukee shootings so far this year.

Prosecutors say Stackhouse was angry that his children were eating cheesecake he had gotten for Father’s Day earlier in the week, and later told police he’d only eaten one piece. He admitted he struck the boy’s face with the back of his hand, which Stackhouse said is heavier than normal because of metal inside from a surgery.

MILWAUKEE (AP) Police say a 3-year-old boy got a hold of a firearm and unintentionally shot and killed himself in Milwaukee. The toddler died Saturday night after shooting himself about 10:30 p.m.
A 26-year-old man was arrested with criminal charges being referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days. The victim has not been identified.
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office says the autopsy is scheduled for Monday. At least eight other children have been killed in Milwaukee shootings so far this year.
