Prisoner Wine Company at Liberty Kitchen
Liberty Kitchen, 4224 San Felipe, 963 Bunker Hill, kicks off its newest wine dinner series with Prisoner WIne Company, offered now through Valentine s Day at both the River Oaks and Memorial locations. The four-course, wine-paired dinner ($99 per guest) features seared scallop with citrus confit, poached pear and candied almonds with sweet basil puree, steak and lobster petites with truffle mashed potatoes and brandy peppercorn sauce, and chocolate covered strawberries with vanilla bean Chantilly.
“Mi Amor” Burger at Rodeo Goat Ice House

Turner’s, 1800 Post Oak, has launched a permanent weekly lunch service after the success of its holiday lunch service, offered every Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Executive chef Robert Del Grande has crafted an all-new menu, with features from lobster salad and steak tartare and frites to classics like the Wagyu hot dog service and Turner’s burger. Regarding “BARC sets new record in keeping animals from being euthanized,” (Dec. 29): Your article hit me hard. The pictures of dogs being shipped for transportation to other locations for adoption were heartbreaking. I could not read any further so I tossed the Chronicle into the trash can. I went over to my dog Charlie and gave him a big hug. He lives like a king and he deserves it. I love him v

Houston animal charities unleash super-low-cost adoption event Find your future furbaby for as little as $7.50 this week. One of the more personal and devastating effects of the pandemic is locals forced to surrender their beloved pets due to COVID-related job loss. Now, two local organizations are teaming up with an area shelter to make adoptions easier for Houstonians on a budget.
Best Friends Animal Society has joined Rescued Pets Movement (RPM) and BARC Animal Shelter to offer low-cost adoptions on Friday, December 18 and Saturday, December 19 from 11 am to 4 pm, the organizations announced. The event will take place at the BARC Animal Shelter at 3200 Carr St.
