The Advocates for Children and Vulnerable People s Network, a human rights group in Lagos State has said justice must be served in the case of defilement of a minor against popular Nigerian actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha.
ACVPN, in a statement issued on Thursday by its Chief Operating Officer, Ebenezer Omejalile, said if the suspect is released as reported in the media, this would mean fights against gender-based violence are a waste of resources.

As a society therefore, we need to understand what motivates children’s behavior if we want to guide children without using corporal punishment. We ought to develop clear guidelines for what behavior is acceptable and then support children as they learn to abide by these guidelines.

The most recent case is of a five-year-old boy beaten by his mother, Patience Uwimana in a video that went viral on social media. Luckily for this case, the perpetrator was traced, police arrested her on March 15, 2020. She was later charged in court which sentenced her to prison.
