Following the forced leave embarked upon by the embattled Managing Director of the First City Monument Bank (FCMB), Adam Nuru, in the wake of an adultery and paternity scandal dogging him, the bank has named an acting Chief Executive Officer to take charge of affairs in the bank.
In a statement issued by the bank on Wednesday, the new acting MD is Yemisi Edun.
The statement says Edun will hold forte pending when the investigation into the Nuru scandal is finalised.
The statement adds that Edun holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Ife, Ile-Ife, and a Master’s degree in International Accounting and Finance from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom.

First City Monument Bank, FCMB has named Yemisi Edun as the new managing director following the stepping aside of the embattled erstwhile MD, Adam Nuru.
Nuru, had opted to go on leave amid allegation of marital infidelity.
Over 1,000 people had signed a petition to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), calling for the sack of Adam Nuru. The petition was initiated by friends of late Tunde Thomas who was married to Moyo.
They had alleged that Tunde died of depression after discovering that his supposed two children with Moyo belong to the FCMB MD.
They therefore called on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to sack Nuru, while demanding a comprehensive investigation into the matter.

The Managing Director, First City Monument Bank Limited, Adam Nuru, has been forced to go on leave to enable the bank to investigate the paternity allegations against him.
This was disclosed in a statement by the bank on Tuesday.
The statement read, “We are aware of several stories circulating across several media platforms about our bank’s Managing Director, Adam Nuru; a former employee, Mrs Moyo Thomas, and her deceased husband, Mr Tunde Thomas.
“While this is a personal matter, the tragedy of the death of Mr Tunde Thomas and the allegations of unethical conduct require the bank’s board to conduct a review of what transpired, any violations of our code of ethics and the adequacy of this code of ethics.

The First City Monument Bank (FCMB), on Wednesday, named Mrs. Yemisi Edun as the Acting Managing Director of the bank in the interim.
This is following the news of the alleged affair between its Managing Director, Adam Nuru, and one of its former staff identified as Moyo Thomas, which caused controversy online.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the FCMB management on its Twitter handle.
“In line with normal corporate practice, Edun is Acting as the Managing Director of FCMB in the interim period, while Mr Adam Nuru is on leave.
“She has not been appointed as the substantive Managing Director,” the statement read.
