Shiv Sena controlled Thane Municipal Corporationâs move to reject the transfer of land for the Rs 1.08 lakh crore bullet train project has surprised its estranged ally BJP. The ruling party in TMC has also rejected a proposal to accept compensation from the National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd, in charge of the bullet train project, for the transfer of nearly 2000 hectare land. It has simply dumped the proposal in the cold storage and put the ball in the court of the BJP-led government at the Centre.

In a jolt to the Maha Vikas Aghadi government, the Bombay High Court on Wednesday granted an interim stay on the Collector s order transferring 102 acres of saltpan lands at Kanjurmarg for constructing the Mumbai metro car shed.
A division bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice GS Kulkarni also ordered the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) to maintain status quo on the land till the Centre and other parties claiming title rights on the disputed land are heard.
“This is an interesting fact subject to correction. In one case, your Collector had sought direction from the court to use 102 acres of land for a Metro car shed. Then why is the Collector passing another order when it is already before the consideration of the court,” the court asked.
It added that it would hear this case along with the Centre’s plea on the said land in February and asked the state to stop work
on the project. “You must await the decision of that application. After looking at the maps, we feel it is the same plot. Every day there is a twist and turn in the events,” CJ Datta remarked. “We cannot allow the Collector’s October 1 order to continue, the order has to go. We are admitting the Centre’s petition and granting interim relief,” the court noted.

Bombay HC stays metro car shed project in Mumbai; asks MMRDA to maintain status quo
The Bombay High Court on Wednesday stayed the metro car shed project at Mumbai s Kanjur Marg and asked the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) to maintain the status quo. Earlier on Monday, the high court had asked the Maharashtra government to consider withdrawing the order passed by the Mumbai Suburban District Collector, allotting 102 acres of saltpan land for the construction of a Metro car shed. Following this, the state government today said it was ready to take back its October 15 order of land allotment to MMRDA for Metro car shed at Kanjur Marg.Â
