Furdoon “Duck” Mehta, who died on his 101st birthday, was believed to have been the only Indian officer to fly with a British Air Observation Post (AOP) Squadron in the Second World War.
In the early morning of March 21 1944, Mehta took off before dawn to locate Japanese gun positions in the Shan Hills, deep in the Burma jungle. He had descended to 300 feet when he heard a loud crack.

The Mumbai Cricket Association has asked its Apex Council members to produce a COVID-19 negative certificate in order to enter the Wankhede stadium, which will host 10 matches of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League. The first game at the iconic stadium in South Mumbai will be held on Saturday evening when Chennai Super Kings square off with Rishabh Pant led Delhi Capitals.

MUMBAI: With the covid situation in the city worsening by the day, the BCCI has made it mandatory for all the officials who would be attending IPL- 2021 matches at the Wankhede Stadium to produce a negative report of the RT-PCR test conducted within 48 hours of the match day. Last Saturday, 10 members of the ground staff at the Wankhede Stadium had tested positive, but most of them recovered later. Two more members of the ground-staff and a plumber at the stadium tested positive for coronavirus later.
Following the BCCI’s directive, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) on Thursday asked its Apex Council members to produce a covid negative report at the entrance of the Wankhede Stadium to be eligible to watch IPL-2021 matches at the iconic stadium. The first IPL game at the Wankhede will be held on Saturday between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals. The venue will stage 10 matches of IPL-2021 between April 10-25.
