Princess Alexandra Hospital doctor tests positive to Covid-19 as authorities identify exposure sites

Authorities are racing to identify potential Covid-19 exposure sites after a doctor tested positive to the virus, plunging a major hospital into lockdown.    The junior medic at Brisbane s Princess Alexandra Hospital was infectious while out in the community on Thursday, though his exact movements are not yet clear.  The doctor had treated a patient with the ultra-infectious UK variant of the virus and returned a positive result on Friday.   Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young will likely provide further details about the case and places he visited on Saturday.  Queensland is just hours away from enjoying a fresh easing of its remaining lockdown restrictions, but this has now been called into question.

Delivery driver cleared of causing speeding motorcyclist s fatal crash

Daniel Meir died following a collision in Norton on the evening of Sunday, July 1, 2018. This morning, a jury cleared Tariq Bhatti of being responsible for the fatal accident following a trial at Teesside Crown Court. The 63-year-old, of Thames Avenue, Thornaby, had always strenuously denied the charge. Mr Meir was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the collision at around 9.10pm on Norton Road at the junction with Trent Street, involving a Skoda Fabia and a Honda VFR 400cc motorcycle. Mr Bhatti was working as a delivery driver for the Peking Chef takeaway at the time of the fatal crash.
