Woman lay across hospital pedestrian crossing, Longford court hears Reporter:   ); A judge has told a woman who lay across a pedestrian crossing at Mullingar General Hospital, interrupting traffic as a result, she risks spending a “number of months” at the Dóchas Centre women s prison. Judge Seamus Hughes issued the warning to Bernadette Earley, 6 Springfield, Mullingar at last week s District Court sitting following her arrest less than 24 hours earlier. Sergeant Orla Keenan gave evidence of having arrested Ms Earley at 8pm last Monday night (April 26). She said the 62-year-old replied: “They shouldn t have discharged me,” after caution. She said Ms Earley had been under the care of Galro, an organisation based in Westmeath that provides assisted living to its clients.

Gardaí responded to reports of the incident and arrested and charged a male suspect who appeared at a sitting of Mullingar District Court this morning. He has been remanded in custody to Longford District Court tomorrow morning. Man found guilty of dumping in a protected Westmeath bog

April 14, 2021 4:31 pm In a case brought before Mullingar District Court by the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, a man was convicted and fined a total of €15,000 plus €3,810 in costs for dumping in 2020 in a protected Westmeath bog. Milltownpass Bog is designated as a Natural Heritage Area (NHA) under the Wildlife (Amendment) Act 2000. The Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage has welcomed the decision of the court, which took place on April 8. Court hears evidence of dumping National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) ranger Triona Finnen gave evidence that she investigated reports of dumping in February 2020. On two dates, she had observed a truck dump soil material within the protected NHA, on lands registered in the ownership of the minister and on adjacent land.

The case was brought before Mullingar District Court by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage on Thursday 8 of April. The man was convicted and fined a total of €15,000, plus €3,810 in costs for dumping in 2020 in the protected Milltownpass Bog Natural Heritage Area. Milltownpass Bog is designated as a Natural Heritage Area (NHA) under the Wildlife (Amendment) Act 2000. One hundred truckloads National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) ranger Tríona Finnen gave evidence that she investigated reports of dumping in February 2020.
