$50 farmers market coupons for seniors Submitted story The Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) is a federally-funded program administered by the United States Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Services Agency and in Ohio, by the Ohio Department of Aging (ODA). The ODA provides additional state funds to support SFMNP operation within Ohio. The program is managed locally by the Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) and provides eligible older adults with $50 in coupons each growing season to use at participating farmers’ markets and roadside stands to purchase produce. To be eligible for the $50 in coupons for this year, individuals must live in the 10 counties included in the AAA7’s district which include Adams, Brown Gallia, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross, Scioto and Vinton. (WTOC) - South Carolinians 60 and older can begin applying to receive free fruits and vegetables from various vendors throughout the state starting on Monday, May 3. The South Carolina Department of Social Services is bringing back its Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program this summer. This seasonal USDA grant program allows qualifying individuals to purchase unprocessed fruits and vegetables from authorized farmers’ markets, roadside stands, and community-supported agriculture programs.

The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) is returning this year in an effort to make fresh produce available to low-income seniors while also supporting South Carolina farmers. Here s how the program works. Eligible seniors receive five $5 checks to spend at authorized farmers’ markets, roadside stands, and community-supported agriculture programs.  Checks are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Benefits are issued on a first-come, first-served basis.
