Upon arrival at the scene, Gardaà observed in excess of 250 vehicles and 700â800 persons gathered. There was very little evidence of social distancing, wearing of face coverings or general compliance with public health guidelines.
Ages of participants included older males in their 30s/40s, some accompanied by young children, but mainly males and females in their 20s.
Participants had travelled from outside the greater Cork area and various parts of Munster.
Speaking last night the Senior Garda Inspector at the event described a disgraceful gathering of persons, despite the Health advices in the last few days .
Gardaà immediately engaged with this large group and advised them to disperse, a direction which was complied with by all in attendance within a short period of time.

A Senior Garda Inspector who was at the event described it is “a disgraceful gathering of persons, despite the Health advices in the last few days”.
The group was dispersed by gardaí and a spokesperson said that those in attendance complied with this.
One man (20s) was arrested for drunkenness offences, then was later charged and bailed to appear in court at a later date and one car was seized under section 41 Road Traffic Act.
It is believed that this event was organised on social media.

GARDAÍ BROKE UP an organised ‘car meet’ of more than 250 cars in Cork yesterday evening that breached Covid-19 regulations.
The gathering, which took place in Little Island, Cork, involved over 250 cars and around 700 to 800 people.
Gardaí received reports of the gathering and advised the group to disperse.
Some people had travelled from outside the greater Cork area and other parts of Munster.

Gardaí intervened in an organised car meet of around 800 people who were gathered in contravention to public health guidelines in Co Cork last night.
More than 250 cars were in attendance at the event at Eastgate in Little Island yesterday evening.
When Gardaí attended the scene, they observed 700 to 800 people gathered and very little evidence of social distancing, wearing of face coverings or general compliance with public health guidelines .
The majority were people aged in their 20s, with some men in their 30s or 40s who were accompanied by young children also at the meeting.
Participants had travelled from outside the greater Cork area and from various parts of Munster.
