Part of Wellington s northern motorway has reopened after a vehicle caught fire following a crash, leaving the driver with life-threatening injuries. Police confirmed a single occupant of the vehicle was airlifted to Middlemore Hospital in critical condition. The patient was previously taken to Wellington Hospital, via Wellington Free Ambulance. The Ngāūranga Gorge from Johnsonville southbound is now open to two lanes and the Johnsonville onramp and Newlands onramp, southbound, has also reopened.
