The investments form part of an Enhanced Trade Partnership (ETP), which the two leaders will formally sign off during their talks.

Britain and India announced 1 billion pounds ($1.39 billion) of private-sector investment and committed to seek a free trade deal ahead of a virtual meeting between Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Indian leader Narendra Modi on Tuesday.
The meeting replaces an in-person visit Johnson had planned to make last month to deepen cooperation as Britain seeks new trading partners after leaving the European Union. That visit was cancelled due to surging COVID-19 cases in India.
PM Modi on Tuesday, 4 May, took to Twitter to say that he had had a productive Virtual Summit with United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson, adding that they had adopted an ‘ambitious’ Roadmap 2030 in order to elevate ties between India and UK.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his British counterpart Boris Johnson on Tuesday adopted an ambitious Roadmap 2030 for elevating India-UK ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership .
The two leaders held a virtual summit on Tuesday and exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest, including cooperation in the Indo-Pacific and G7.
They reiterated commitment to climate action to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement and agreed to closely engage in the run up to CoP26 hosted by the UK later this year.
