Local News: State of the City (2021) ~ Mayor Sykes (4/5/21)

Monday, April 5, 2021 Michael Freeman City of Mountain Home Communications Director To the citizens of Mountain Home, it is with great excitement that I present this year’s State of the City. As your Mayor one of my top priorities is to make your local government transparent and accountable to the citizens of our town. 2020 was a difficult year, but I am proud of our community and the way we cared for one another. Like many cities in Idaho, Mountain Home was fortunate enough to enjoy continued growth and prosperity, despite the pandemic. At the beginning of this year, the city department heads and I formed the “Executive Leadership Team.” We set aside an entire week for analysis, coordination, and planning for our town’s future.

Column: Answer to the Longarm question! (1/5/21)

Tuesday, January 5, 2021 After reaching out to the Western Elmore County Recreation District concerning the Longarm machine disappearance, Michelle Heins responded to our questions. She stated, “that the Letter to the Editor that was published on December 23 was correct in that the machine was no longer there.” According to Heins the quilting machine had been gifted to the quilting club by the previous board in July 2016. On October 2020, the club was notified by the landlord that they would have to move out of the large room they had previously occupied in the back of the recreation office. The current board told them that they could keep the machine there in a different location in the office and it would be no problem.
