Greater Hutch announces new Workforce Development programs
Greater Hutch, an Economic Development Partnership for Reno County, is collaborating with Hutchinson Community College and Hutchinson Career and Technical Education Academy to introduce two new workforce initiatives that will enhance technical educational training opportunities for our local youth.
Limited sponsorship opportunities are available for both programs.
The first, Signing Day, will take place May 6 at HCTEA. Like athletic signings, the signing day ceremony is designed to honor students who are entering a technical field and emphasize the importance of their career choice.
On the day of the event, high school students, parents, instructors, administration, counselors, industry partners, and potential employers will celebrate as students join their peers to commit to their future technical program pathway of choice.
Many health care providers have a moment or patient case that has stuck with them during the coronavirus pandemic.
For Amy Cripe, a nurse manager in Stormont Vail Hospital’s COVID-19 unit, that moment involves a married couple who resided in the hospital at the same time.
“We were able to keep them in the same room together up here, which is something we really have not done for a long time since we converted to all private rooms,” Cripe said.
The couple’s family lived out of town, so Stormont nursing staff became close with the husband and wife. It was heartbreaking when they lost them to COVID-19.
Dodge City Daily Globe
After a lot of wait-and-see, the COVID-19 vaccine has made its way into the Dodge City area, with more set to arrive near Dec. 28.
On Dec. 17, shipments of the vaccine from Pfizer arrived at Western Plains Medical Complex. The first vaccine was administered on Dec. 18. We can confirm that we have received an initial allocation of COVID-19 vaccines and are in the process of distributing them in accordance with prioritization guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the federal government and the State of Kansas, said WPMC marketing director Danielle Stroud. We will be prioritizing healthcare personnel who have direct patient contact within six feet, per CDC and state guidance.
