The swimmer, described as being in his 30s by one onlooker, jumped into the Severn from the main bridge and began swimming towards Diglis. In total four fire crews responded – two from Worcester, one from Evesham and one from Pershore. This included the Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service s water first responders plus the service drone from Ledbury after the call came in at 1.17pm. The incident was not closed until 3.07pm, close to two hours after the emergency call. It is believed the swimmer s friend filmed his foolhardy escapade. Lesley Moore of Powick spoke to the man with the camera, asking him: Is he mad?

The air ambulance has been called in after a man had to be cut free from an overturned van on the A500.
A MAN is reported to have jumped into the flooded river in Worcester wearing nothing but his boxer shorts. Police, fire crews and ambulances rushed to the scene, parking near the car park to Worcestershire County Cricket Club as boats circled on the river looking for him. A witness described the jumper s friend filming the incident on his phone. I said to his mate, Is he mad? At that point he jumped in, said Lesley Moore, of Powick, who was out taking her exercise when the drama unfolded.
