Milestone in Dudley with Very Light Rail test track complete

A MAJOR milestone has been reached in the Very Light Rail programme in Dudley with the completion of the test track. The new 2.2km test track, which runs from the bottom of Castle Hill to Cinder Bank Island, is the linchpin in making Dudley a global focus in rail innovation. It is expected that a Coventry VLR prototype vehicle, being developed by Coventry City Council and WMG, will be tested later this year. Councillor Patrick Harley, leader of Dudley Council, toured the site this week with West Midlands Mayor Andy Street to see the progress first-hand. The senior figures also got to see the work in progress on site including the National Innovation Centre.
