We’ve been avoiding crowds, wearing masks, conducting meetings and other interactions across numerous video chat programs, wiping down everything that can be touched with disinfectants and going through gallon after gallon of hand sanitizer, all while waiting for the vaccines to become available. There probably are few among us whose lives have not been touched it’s likely you, a relative or someone you know has tested positive or had to endure the suffering the coronavirus has brought on.

The WV NAACP put out a press release and held a virtual press conference Tuesday to detail their concerns and plan of action. The organization called Morrisey’s actions “racist, unethical and un-American efforts to disenfranchise voters in Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Georgia.” On December 9, 2020, Morrisey, a Republican, entered West Virginia into a lawsuit intended to undermine the U.S. Constitution and to violate the 15th Amendment of the Constitution that gave Black Americans citizenship and the right to vote, the NAACP’s press release said.

West Virginia joins states seeking info on substance abuse law | News, Sports, Jobs

sadams@newsandsentinel.com CHARLESTON West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey joined with 45 states and three territories seeking information from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on how it is implementing a federal law dealing substance abuse treatment and recovery. The National Association of Attorneys General sent a letter Monday to FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn seeking a progress report on implementation of the Substance Use Disorder Prevention that Promotes Opioid Recovery and Treatment for Patients and Communities Act, as known as the SUPPORT Act. The 2018 law, among other things, gives the FDA additional authority when it comes regulating opioid medications, which as oxycodone, hydrocodone, and other addictive medications prescribed for pain and often abused.

Morrisey takes action against Monongalia County contractor | News, Sports, Jobs

Jan 12, 2021 CHARLESTON West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey announced Wednesday he has taken enforcement action against Hawkins Construction of Monongalia County and two other contractors whose alleged conduct violates various facets of West Virginia’s consumer protection laws. “Consumers trust and the law requires contractors to do professional work,” Morrisey said. “Contractors who defraud consumers and violate our state’s consumer protection laws must be held accountable. These enforcement actions demonstrate how our office will vigorously pursue con artists at every step in the process.” The state filed suit against Hawkins Construction and its owners in late December. The lawsuit alleges the company performed substandard roofing work for a Morgantown consumer and failed to make repairs or refund the consumer’s money.
