According to Deadline, Turner will be featured in the eight-part drama alongside Colin Firth, Toni Collette, Juliette Binoche, Rosemarie DeWitt, and Parker Posey. The series is based on the docuseries of the same name, which followed the investigation and trial of Michael Peterson (Firth), who was accused of murdering his wife Kathleen (Collette) in 2001. Though the novelist reported that Kathleen fell down the stairs of their North Carolina home, a medical examiner determined that she was bludgeoned, poking holes in his story.
Turner will be taking on the role of one of Petersonâs adopted daughters, Margaret Ratliff, in her return to HBO.Â

Game of Thrones alum Sophie Turner has joined the ever-growing cast of HBO Max’s true-crime limited series The Staircase, exploring the life of Michael Peterson, according to Deadline. Turner will portray Margaret Ratliff, one of Peterson’s adopted daughters.
Turner joins Colin Firth, Toni Collette, Juliette Binoche, Rosemarie DeWitt, and Parker Posey in the scripted eight-part drama focused on the infamous murder case.
Based on Jean-Xavier de Lestrade’s true-crime docuseries and various books and reports on the case, the limited series explores the life of Michael Peterson (Firth), his sprawling North Carolina family, and the suspicious death of his wife, Kathleen Peterson (Collette).
